Nithisha has reason to smile

Three year old Nithisha is a nursery student in the Primary School run by HOPE Foundation in Pudupattinam, near Chennai, India. Her father is a fisherman and her mother a housewife. She has a younger siister, and the family of four lives in a tsunami rehabilitation home at Pudupattinam Kuppam.

At the time of admission, the school ensured that Nithisha was taken to the government run primary health clinic where all the necessary vaccinations were given to her. She will continue receiving OPV whenever there is a pulse polio drive. A primary health worker will also be visiting the school periodically, to ensure that Nithisha gets all her other vaccinations on time.
