Dharani doesn’t have to worry about life threatening illnesses

Dharani is 5 years old and is the younger of two daughters of Ravidhandran and Chokkammal. Her father is unable to work because of an illness, and her mother works as a domestic maid to support the family of four. Her older sister studies in the local government school, and she is a kindergarden student at the school run by Hope Foundation. The family lives in a rented house in Pudupattinam.

At the time of admission, the school ensured that Dharani was taken to the government run primary health clinic where all the necessary vaccinations were given to her, and her immunization chart brought up to date. She will continue receiving OPV whenever there is a pulse polio drive. A primary health worker will also be visiting the school periodically, to ensure that she gets all her other vaccinations on time.
