Prithika is protected against deadly illnesses

Five year old Prithika  is a student in Grade 1 in the primary school run by HOPE foundation in Pudupattinam. Her father, after a domestic dispute, deserted the family, when Prithika was an six month old infant. Prithika’s mother works as a sweeper to support the family of three members including Prithika’s grandmother. She resides in a Tsunami rehabilitation home in Pudupattinam Kuppam.

At the time of admission, the school ensured that Prithika was taken to the government run primary health clinic where all the necessary vaccinations were given to her, and her immunization chart brought up to date. She will continue receiving OPV whenever there is a pulse polio drive. A primary health worker will also be visiting the school periodically, to ensure that Prithika gets all her other vaccinations on time.
