Neranjan is safe from vaccine-preventable diseases

Neranjan,  5 yrs old,  son of Parasuraman and Primala is enrolled in the 1st grade in Hope Foundation School. Parasuraman and Primala have an older son, who is also enrolled in the same school. The grandmother also stays with the family.  Parasuraman sells fish in the market to support the family of five, and Primala is a housewife. The family lives in Tsunami Rehabilitation Home in Uyyalikuppam.

At the time of admission, the school ensured that Neranjan was taken to the government run primary health clinic where all the necessary vaccinations were given to him, and his immunization chart brought up to date. He will continue receiving OPV whenever there is a pulse polio drive. A primary health worker will also be visiting the school periodically, to ensure that Neranjan gets all his other vaccinations on time.
