Three year old Darshini is a nursery student in the Primary School run by HOPE Foundation in Pudupattinam, near Chennai, India. She is the older daughter of Prahthiban and Essaivani, and lives in the Pudupattinam fisherman colony with her parents and younger brother. Her father is a fishermen and her family was one of several that was affected by the Tsunami that struck the coast of India in 2004.
At the time of admission, the school ensured that Darshini was taken to the government run primary health clinic where she was given the DPT (Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus) shot, and OPV (Oral Polio Vaccine). Darshini will continue receiving OPV whenever there is a pulse polio drive. A primary health worker will also be visiting the school periodically, to ensure that Darshini gets all her other vaccinations on time.
Your donation, Subash, will ensure that Darshini remains protected against seven deadly illnesses all her life.
