Three year old Gokulan is a nursery student in the Primary School run by HOPE Foundation in Pudupattinam, near Chennai, India. He is the youngest son of Ramu and Parimala, and they live in the Uyyalikuppan fisherman colony. His father is a fisherman, and his mother sells fish. Gokulan has an older brother, and his grandmother also lies with them in a Tsunami rehabilitation home.
At the time of admission, the school ensured that Gokulan’s vaccination sheet was up to date. He had been vaccinated at the Government run Primary Health Centre at Sadras. Now, Gokulan will continue receiving OPV whenever there is a pulse polio drive. A primary health worker will also be visiting the school periodically, to ensure that Gokulan gets all his other vaccinations on time.
Your donation, Thomas, will ensure that Gokulan remains protected against seven deadly illnesses all his life.
