Nithish is looking forward to celebrating his 5th birthday

Nithish will be five years old on 11 June 2011 and studies in kindergarten at the Primary School run by HOPE Foundation in Pudupattinam, near Chennai, India. He is a resident of Pudupattinam, and his family was one of the many that were affected by the tsunami that hit the coast of South India in 2004. His father, Prasad, and his mother, Sathya, are very keen When Nithish was enrolled in school, the school authorities ensured that he was taken to the government run primary health clinic where he was given the DPT (Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus) shot, OPV (Oral Polio Vaccine) and Hepatitis vaccines. He will continue receiving OPV whenever there is a pulse polio drive. Nithish is due for his booster dose of DPT, and a primary health worker will be visiting the school periodically, to ensure that he gets the vaccination on time.
