Three year old Annal Gracy is a pre-kindergarten student in the Primary School run by HOPE Foundation in Pudupattinam, near Chennai, India. Her family was one of the many that were affected by the tsunami that hit the coast of South India in 2004. Her father, Jayakumar, is a daily wage laborer, and her mother, Jansirani, is a housewife. Neither of her parents are well educated, but they realize the importance of an education, and are determined to give Annal Gracy and her brother, Christopher, the schooling they never had.
In January, at the time of admission into pre-kindergarten, the school ensured that Annal Gracy was taken to the government run primary health clinic where she was given the DPT (Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus) shot, and OPV (Oral Polio Vaccine). She has subsequently received OPV whenever there has been a pulse polio drive, and she will continue doing so. In addition, a primary health worker will also be visiting the school periodically, to ensure that Annal Gracy gets all her vaccinations on time.
Your donation, Lynda, will ensure that Annal Gracy remains protected against seven deadly illnesses all her life.
