Three year old Anitha is a nursery student in the Primary School run by HOPE Foundation in Pudupattinam, near Chennai, India. She is the youngest daughter of Selvem, a fisherman, and resides in the Pudupattinam fishermen colony. Both her elder sisters are also in the school run by HOPE Foundation.

At the time of admission, the school ensured that Anitha was taken to the government run primary health clinic where she was given the DPT (Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus) shot, and OPV (Oral Polio Vaccine). Anitha will continue receiving OPV whenever there is a pulse polio drive. A primary health worker will also be visiting the school periodically, to ensure that Anitha gets all her other vaccinations on time.

She is the older daughter of  Prahthiban and Essaivani, and lives in the Pudupattinam fisherman colony with her parents and younger brother. Her father is a fishermen and her family was one of several that was affected by the Tsunami that struck the coast of India in 2004.

At the time of admission, the school ensured that Darshini was taken to the government run primary health clinic where she was given the DPT (Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus) shot, and OPV (Oral Polio Vaccine). Darshini will continue receiving OPV whenever there is a pulse polio drive. A primary health worker will also be visiting the school periodically, to ensure that Darshini gets all her other vaccinations on time.

Gokulan loves going to school

Three year old Gokulan is a nursery student in the Primary School run by HOPE Foundation in Pudupattinam, near Chennai, India. He is the youngest son of Ramu and Parimala, and they live in the Uyyalikuppan fisherman colony. His father is a fisherman, and his mother sells fish. Gokulan has an older brother, and his grandmother also lies with them in a Tsunami rehabilitation home.

At the time of admission, the school ensured that Gokulan’s vaccination sheet was up to date. He had been vaccinated at the Government run Primary Health Centre at Sadras. Now, Gokulan will continue receiving OPV whenever there is a pulse polio drive. A primary health worker will also be visiting the school periodically, to ensure that Gokulan gets all his other vaccinations on time.

Her father, Pugal, and her mother, Subhadra, have never been to school.

Nithish will be five years old on 11 June 2011 and studies in kindergarten at the Primary School run by HOPE Foundation in Pudupattinam, near Chennai, India. He is a resident of Pudupattinam, and his family was one of the many that were affected by the tsunami that hit the coast of South India in 2004. His father, Prasad, and his mother, Sathya, are very keen When Nithish was enrolled in school, the school authorities ensured that he was taken to the government run primary health clinic where he was given the DPT (Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus) shot, OPV (Oral Polio Vaccine) and Hepatitis vaccines. He will continue receiving OPV whenever there is a pulse polio drive. Nithish is due for his booster dose of DPT, and a primary health worker will be visiting the school periodically, to ensure that he gets the vaccination on time.

Her father, Senjiliyen, and her mother, Devi, have never been to school.

Kaviya will continue receiving OPV whenever there is a pulse polio drive. Rishika’s scared of the camera, but doesn’t have to fear illnesses

Three and a half year old Rishika is a kindergarten student in the Primary School run by HOPE Foundation in Pudupattinam, near Chennai, India. She is a resident of the coastal village of Uyallikuppam, and her family was one of the many that were affected by the tsunami that hit the coast of South India in 2004. Her father, Sudhakar, works in the village.
Before Rishika was enrolled in the school, the school authorities made sure that she was taken to the government run primary health clinic where she was given the DPT (Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus) shot, OPV (Oral Polio Vaccine) and the Hepatitis vaccine. Rishika will continue receiving OPV whenever there is a pulse polio drive. A primary health worker will also be visiting the school periodically, to ensure that she gets all her subsequent vaccinations on time.
Rishika’s never seen a camera before, and her fear of the unknown is apparent on her face. However, thanks to your donation, Noah, Rishika will not have to be scared of contracting the seven easily preventable illnesses that are responsible for so many deaths in the developing world.

Harish’s father, Venkatesan, is a daily wage laborer, and his mother, Rajeshwari, is a housewife. Neither of his parents are well educated, but they realize the importance of an education, and are determined to give Harish, the schooling they never had.
In March, before admission into kindergarten, the school ensured that Harish was taken to the government run primary health clinic where he was given the DPT (Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus) booster shot. He has subsequently been receiving the OPV whenever there has been a pulse polio drive and tetanus and will continue doing so. In addition, a primary health worker will also be visiting the school periodically, to ensure that Harish gets all his vaccinations on time.

Five year old Nivetha is a kindergarten student in the Primary School run by HOPE Foundation in Pudupattinam, near Chennai, India. Her family was one of the many that were affected by the tsunami that hit the coast of South India in 2004. Her father, Sudhakar, is a fisherman, and her mother, Mahesgwari, is a housewife. Since they are both illiterate, they do not realize the importance of vaccinating their children against commonly childhood illnesses.
At the time of admission, the school ensured that Nivetha was taken to the government run primary health clinic where she was given all the shots required as per the government prescribed vaccination schedule. After enrollment, HOPE has been ensuring that Nivetha is given the Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) everytime there is a pulse polio drive. Nivetha will soon come due for the DPT (Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus) booster dose, which HOPE will ensure she gets.

Neither of his parents are well educated, but they realize the importance of an education, and are determined to give Christopher, and his younger sister, Annal Gracy, the schooling they never had.
In January, at the time of admission into kindergarten, the school ensured that Christopher was taken to the government run primary health clinic where he was given the DPT (Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus) booster shot which was two years overdue. He has subsequently been receiving the OPV whenever there has been a pulse polio drive, and will continue doing so.
